IIPM Rankings

With a plethora of management institutes operating in the country, the significance of B Schools rankings in the industry becomes more important for ascertaining the real worth of the institute. IIPM as a management institute has over the years performed exceedingly well in the various parameters used for the qualitative rankings.

As the rankings of the B-school has assumed significant place in determining the value of the management institute .IIPM has regularly tried to stay out of various B-Schools rankings (the extremely credible Outlook ranking being the only exception) taken out by them. This stems out of the fact that IIPM believes that its course contents are far superior to those of any other institute in the country. IIPM - The Indian Institute of Planning and Management has strong reservations on the methodology applied by most of the magazines to rank B-schools. Being an institute totally focused on quality education and faculty it believes that educational institutes should be judged primarily on these grounds (most of these B-school rankings give a maximum of only 20% to 30% weight age to the same). However, often magazines take out rankings without IIPMs participation-based upon student perceptions etc. In such rankings, IIPM has variably been in the top 10 to 15 B-schools In India. In a country with more than 1000 B-schools, this speaks volumes about IIPMs academic standing. IIPM is today a frontrunner when it comes to Industry Interface between the institute, its faculty, its students and the corporate world .No wonder it was ranked 4 th in the outlook survey in the Industry Interface section.

Earlier, the Business Barons B-School Study 2004 ranked the Indian Institute of Planning & Management ( IIPM) 8th overall in India. Five parameters were used for the qualitative rankings - infrastructure, placement salaries commanded, depth of industry interface, quality of course contents and quality of students.

In the same year IIPM again in the survey conducted by Business Today-A C Nielsen ORG-Marg's 2004 listing of India's top 30 B-schools ranked IIPM Mumbai at 23rd and IIPM Delhi the 30th. The schools were ranked using ACNielsen's Winning Brands model. Respondents were asked to rank 30 short listed B-schools on eight parameters - reputation, success of placement, quality of placement, infrastructure, faculty, teaching methodology and specialization and admission eligibility. Based on the scores on different parameters, the model calculates the Brand Equity Index (BEI) for each school. The Outlook C-Fore B-School survey had ranked IIPM's Delhi campus in the top 10 among several parameters in 2003.
